Detective Zach Jordan is the first one on the scene. Zach works with his beautiful new partner, Detective Kylie MacDonald-who also happens to be his ex-girlfriend. An interesting story unfolds with several murders and a few twists.
My mom and sister recommended this book to me. I was a little skeptical because sometimes these “Cozy” mysteries are too cozy for me! But I really loved this one! It was not too cute and had enough substance! I liked the characters, enjoyed the plot and story and was surprised by a few twists!
This is the first of this “series” with cooking aficionado-turned-amateur detective, Sadie Hoffmiller, trying to solve the murder of Anne Lemmon, her beautiful young neighbor – a single mother who was mysteriously killed while a lemon tart was baking in her oven. At the heart of Sadie’s search is Anne’s missing two-year-old son, Trevor. Whoever took the child must be the murderer, but Sadie is certain that the police are looking at all the wrong suspects – including her!
It turns out much different than you are suspecting so beware and have fun!
As soon as I finished I went straight to Amazon and bought the next one…English Triffle
Flanagan’s characters have the warm, well-worn feel of familiarity by now — it’s like visiting old friends, whom you can depend on to always do the noblest,
best things that they can. Will, Horace, Halt, Evanlyn and the feisty, boisterous Skandians are all pleasantly familiar, and he introduces some endearing people in Nihon-ja as well, such as the down-to-earth Shigeru.
Nihon-Ja is a sort of fantasy Japan with emperors and warriors. And Horace has gone on an extended stay there to learn from them. When Horace is about to leave he gets caught up in a plot to over throw the Emperor.
His friends are summoned and take on the challenge of reaching Horace in the far off land. The journey is full of dangers; pirates, desert warriors, and squabbles aboard the Skandian
I recommend this book and the other 9 that go before it!ship Wolfwill.
This is Book 1 of the Adventurers Wanted series and I know of 2 more. This is a young adult series but I recommend it for all ages that enjoy a good fantasy story. There is magic and mayhem, adventure and friendship. All in all a good read.
When Alex sees the sign “Adventurers Wanted: Apply Within” in a shop window, he can’t help but inquire. He is soon steamrolled into his first adventure by the shop owner, finding himself packed off to a fantasy world as the eighth member of a group going after the dragon Slathbog.
Alex is very likable and so are the companions that join him in his adventure. The story reminded me a lot of Eragon, yet the reading is easier and quicker. Highly enjoyable, fast-paced, and full of adventure!
I read a book today. I couldn’t help myself. I asked someone if the author of The Book Thief had written anything else and if it was good. She said she he did and she liked it even better. So I downloaded it and started reading. I didn’t stop until I was done.
It is a very good book about an ordinary guy with an ordinary life with ordinary friends. They are floating through life until they get involved with an attempted bank robbery. Ed picks up a gun and becomes a hero. But that is not the end. Ed then receives a playing card in the mail with a message for him. Ed finds his life during the journey that is this book.
Another good book by Steve Berry. Somewhat predictable but a good read nonetheless. Cotton Malone and Cassiopeia Vitt team up again to go after someone determined to rule the world Alexander the Great style. Irina Zovastina, supreme minister of the Central Asian Federation, who’s plotting to use a bioweapon to destroy Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan. But who is really on her side and who is going to double cross her?
Lots of intrigue and plot shifts in this one but in the end Cotton and Cassiopeia save the day.
I was looking around in a bookstore lately and asked as associate for a recommendation. She told me about the series called The Abhorsen. The first book is Sabriel. I know why she liked it now that I have read it. This is an extremely well written book with engaging characters. Possibly one of the greatest fantasy adventures of our times, Garth Nix’s first novel is a lush, magical, dark-witty adventure about a young woman’s battle with the hideous Dead.
The Old Kingdom is full of charter magic. There are Necromancers that create problems with the dead. But the Abhorsen is in charge of “fixing” the problems and sending the dead back to death. Sabriel inherits the title from her father. She doesn’t know what she is doing because she was sent out of the Old Kingdom for her education. But she finds many helpers along the way.
I love this TV series so I was excited to see this new book by Richard castle. For those of you like me that love the TV series you should know
that the books are different. But you need to read and find out for yourself.
In this book, a respected parish priest is killed in very bizarre and unusual circumstances and Nikki has to go up against a vicious drug lord, a CIA operative, and a death squad that tries to kill her.
She is having interdepartmental problems and issues with 1 Police Plaza. Who can she trust? Jameson Rook of course!
The Power of Six by Pittacus Lore. This is a sequel bookto One Am Number Four which was made into a Major Motion Picture. I saw the movie
and then read the book. I liked this sequel book better than the 1st although the kids made some pretty stupid decisions and that frustrates me while reading.
Number 6 is in Italy and is reading about the trouble that Number 4 is getting into in America. She wants to leave but her protector is acting strange.
There is plenty action and adventure and the characters are fascinating. I am sure that the alien teens will continue to find each other and work together to save themselves, their human friends and the planet.
This is a good read. I recommend this book to people of all ages!
Reversal by Michael Connelly: Connelly’s new thriller features two of his series heroes-the wily defense attorney Mickey Haller and his half-brother, LAPD detective Harry Bosch. This time Haller is working the other side of the courtroom, as a special independent prosecutor trying to keep a very nasty child molester and killer behind bars, with Bosch doing his legwork.
But Haller isn’t defending…he is the Prosecuter! He brings along his ex-wife on this adventure as well.
This was a brilliant court room drama with plenty suspense and twists and turns. Haller is called on to put a convicted felon back behind bars after his conviction is overturned on a technicality. Although he is not used to prosecuting he does his job well.
A must read for sure…
